JOB TITLE: Physical Therapist
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Knowledge: Must have extensive knowledge of the mission, vision, values, and commitments of the Orthopaedic Medial Group of Tampa Bay. Must have valid physical therapy license in the state of Florida.
2. Education: Graduation from an accredited physical therapy program is required. Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) required.
3. Experience: 1-3 years’ experience preferred. Qualified new graduates will be considered.
4. Training: Must complete OMG orientation and training to include: On the job training, compliance, and customer service awareness. Quarterly meetings with peers and leadership may be required.
JOB SUMMARY:
Meets the patient's goals and needs and provides quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; determining physical therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
Helps patient accomplish treatment plan and accept therapeutic devices by administering manual exercises; instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as nonmanual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily-living activities and in using assistive and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
Administers physical therapy treatments by giving musculoskeletal treatments, initiating traction; applying physical agents; moist packs, ultrasound machines; directing treatments given by assistants, technicians, and athletic trainers.
Evaluates effects of physical therapy treatments and fit of orthotic devices by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress; recommending adjustments and modifications.
Documents patient care services by charting patient and department records.
Maintains patient confidence and protects clinical operations by keeping information confidential.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
Develops physical therapy staff by providing information; developing and conducting in-service training programs.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES: As Required
WORK ENVIRONMENT: A combination of office and clinical setting. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic setting.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk, or hear. Daily job-related interactions will require the employee to push, pull, bend, squat, or demonstrate exercises. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk for extended periods of time; use hands to manipulate, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing 5 to 30 lbs or more. May assist patients as needed, helping them on and off the exam table, or pushing wheelchairs. Ability to work a flexible schedule. Stress can be triggered by workload and complex cases. Occasional stress caused by multitasking, level of responsibility, and workload.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time, exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. The work schedule is subject to change, based on organizational needs.
